Serving in Tennessee? Here's what you need, and what we're building.
Your ABC card is yours, but it decides whether you can work your next shift. Start with the rules, then see the course we're planning.
Getting or renewing your card
Four steps, the same for a first card or a renewal.
- Take a TABC-approved server course. Online or in person. Pass the test at 70 percent.
- Apply through RLPS, the state's permitting site, and pay the $20 state fee.
- Give your employer a copy once it's issued. The MyTN wallet version counts.
- Note the expiration. Cards issued since January 1, 2025 last two years. Expired means you can't serve, no grace period.

The course we're building
Not yet submitted to TABC. Not an approved course today.
We've written an online alcohol server course built for a phone: short lessons, real Tennessee situations, and the same six subjects the state requires of every approved program, from how alcohol affects the body to checking IDs and cutting someone off without a fight.
When it's approved and you pass, your certificate goes straight onto your employer's roster if they use EasyABC TN, so nobody has to chase a photocopy. Staff at those venues are planned to pay $14.99 instead of $29.99.
Until then, take any course on TABC's list of approved server training programs. We'll update this page the day ours is approved.
Questions
Will EasyABC TN offer the server training course?
We plan to. The course is written but has not been submitted to TABC for program certification yet, so it is not an approved course today. Until it is, take any course on TABC's approved list. We'll say so on this site the day ours is approved.
What will the course cost?
The planned price is $29.99, and $14.99 for anyone on the roster of a venue that uses EasyABC TN. Those numbers could change before launch.
Do I need my employer to use EasyABC TN?
No. Anyone will be able to take the course. If your employer does use it, your certificate lands on their roster when you pass, and you get the lower price.
